Adele’s breakout single, ‘Rolling In The Deep’ has become a pop music and pop culture staple. It’s one the biggest songs of the past ten years. Well, get ready because we’re in for a whole new rendition from the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin!
‘Rolling In The Deep’ is the first single from ‘Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics’, due out October 21st. At first, it’s a little weird, you know. This is not the voice we’ve come to know and associate with the song. It’s an interesting take and mixes in ‘Ain’t No Mountain High’ during the bridge, but it just doesn’t compare to the original. For me,there just isn’t as much fire behind the vocals as Adele’s. Albiet, the kind of tenacity is hard to duplicate. No disrespect to Areatha, she’s the queeeeeen of the divas, but it’s just….different. With that being said though, Aretha does make the song her own by flipping it and making it a disco classic. You’ve got to respect her for not duplicate Adele’s magic!
